SACHIN and Team India

"He is a legend. Who cares if he is not making runs for the team now?". Just came across this post from one of my friends talking about Sachin concerning his on-going bad performance recently (Not the exact words, but the gist of it).

Well, he is a legend and will always be! There's absolutely no second thought about it. He has brought India its glory, its respect into international cricket innumerable times. Well, I feel its redundant to mention this, as every person having a little bit of knowledge about cricket world knows him. But let's just think upon it for a minute. Do you really agree with the statement made above, "Who cares if he is not making runs for the team now?"

Let’s be practical here and look at the bigger picture. In this country where cricket is loved by every individual, we always expect and support our team to win like crazy. At the same time, it is also true that win in a sport like cricket doesn’t come from a single individual on the field, it’s a team effort. If one doesn’t perform well (happens sometimes), other takes over the responsibility. And if all the players contribute their maximum, it’s Christmas for the entire team and nation!. It’s perfectly understood that a person with a glorious past doesn’t perform well in a couple of games, chances should be given. However, if it becomes a continuous process, it does affect the team and its strength, doesn’t it? Sometimes the morale of the entire team goes down too after repeated defeats. It starts affecting the ranking of country’s sport on the international charts. There are many good cricketers having talent still sitting on bench desperately waiting for just, only one opportunity to serve his country and show their potential. Wouldn't it be unfair for them to refrain from playing cricket even when knowing that someone is not performing well from quite a long time and still occupying the squad just because of his past achievements and fame?

After all, we all play for India and strive hard to win to maintain its reputation. It’s a question of India and its reputation in the cricketing world and we gotta maintain it. Each game is new and demands the best from each and every individual. If you know you are under-performing from quite a long time, it’s time to introspect, decide what is best to the team and to the country. It’s quite natural that even the most genius guys of a particular field goes through dark times, happens. It’s okay to take a break for some time, play few of the domestic matches to re-gain your strength, your potential, your form and come-back as strong as before.

“If you doubt Sachin’s expertise in cricket now, don’t ever post/think about cricket anymore!!” This is exactly what few of you must be thinking now right? Please note, I am a big fan of Sachin too and probably respect him much more than you do! I am not at all saying that Sachin is not that swift anymore, but it has opened mouths of the critics considering his slump in the form, and I can’t stand reading those. Hence, I believe, it would be much wise taking a short break and come-back again strongly to shut the mouths of those morons who are criticising and questioning his abilities/retirement from cricket considering his recent degraded performance.

We all love you Sachin and can’t see any fingers pointing towards your dedication, commitment to Indian cricket!
